UAS Properties was conceived in many ways by accident by a team of Stanford University students in 2000 in a dorm room in Palo Alto, CA.  The group which included a mechanical engineer, a communications major and a political science major had just sold their first venture an internet company called YourLives.com at a fire sale as the dotcom era economy came crashing down.  In an effort initially to secure off campus housing for post graduation life the team began acquiring small (two to four unit) apartment buildings in Oakland, Richmond and other Northern California communities. 

Following graduation the team all got great paying jobs in various industries but continued to invest in real estate together.  In less than a year the team owned a small portfolio of about 30 rental units and that’s when it happened.  An unsolicited offer came in for double what the team paid for a building less than a year prior.  Enthusiastically the team sold not only that building but the entire portfolio and rolled the gains into portfolios in Chicago, IL, Indianapolis, IN and Cincinnati, OH.  Unable to find a management firm with the resources and capacity to manage their new portfolios (which were still some pretty small buildings) spread across disadvantage communities in the Midwest, UAS Properties was born.  The goal was to manage the Principal’s personal investments and offer service to owners of small scattered site apartment buildings in transitioning areas.

Today, UAS Properties, Inc is a leading market and affordable housing Leasing and Property Management firm. Officially, founded in 2001, UAS Properties has been involved in the management of over 800 scattered site units largely concentrated in depressed communities. UAS clients include financial institutions, developers, private owners and other large Property Management firms. UAS Properties, Inc currently employs a staff in excess of 40 professional Property Managers, Leasing Agents, Maintenance and Custodial Staff as well as a full service in house Accounting Department. As an acknowledgement of its superior customer service, UAS Properties is the currently the largest tenant placement firm and the fastest growing private Property Management firm on the south side of Chicago. UAS Properties was recently awarded the 2009 WGCI Radio Small Business of the Year Award.
